Harry Winston Ocean Biretrograde Automatic 36mm

The House of Harry Winston celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Ocean Collection with the new Ocean Biretrograde timepiece. Classic Ocean family complications, including retrograde displays and excentered hours and minutes, command center stage in this new iteration with a sea of vibrant colors, mother-of-pearl and a refreshing splash of diamonds.

Smooth sailing for 20 years

2018 marks the 20th anniversary of Harry Winston’s sporty Ocean Collection. Renowned for its bold design, complications, and resilient characteristics, the Ocean Collection welcomes two new 18-karat gold ladies’ timepiece models, which are adorned in color and light. Navigating smoothly between high mechanical and high jewelry waters, the intensely saturated colors and diamonds provide a dramatic backdrop to the action on deck.

Dive into a sea of color

This year, color is the main theme in the Ocean Collection, as demonstrated by the bright blue and burgundy mother-of-pearl dials. The 18-karat white gold model, with a burgundy dial, is intrepid yet feminine, while the rose gold model transports the wearer directly to the heart of Harry Winston’s universe where the color blue has always played a starring role. Having once owned the world’s most impressive treasure trove of historic diamonds and gemstones, Mr. Winston enriched his collection with the acquisition of the legendary 45.52-carat Hope Diamond in 1949. Inspired by this famous diamond, a regal tone of blue mother-of-pearl embellishes the dial.

Complications come to the fore

To draw the eye to the retrograde displays for the days of the week and seconds, the counters are framed by a row of seven brilliant-cut diamonds and engraved with a lotus flower – a shape that recalls Harry Winston’s Lotus Cluster fine jewelry collection. Deliberately understated, the hours and minutes disc allows the complications to shine.

As a member of the Ocean dynasty, the timepiece pays tribute to all things nautical, and the natural mother-of-pearl stage hosts a large droplet of water traced in diamonds at 6 o’clock. Admirers of Harry Winston’s impressive collection of gemstones will notice a direct reference to the recently acquired Winston Legacy Diamond. As one of the most magnificent flawless diamonds in the world, the pear- shaped silhouette of the Winston Legacy is recreated in the brilliant-cut diamond drop framing the date window.

A mechanical heart

The emerald-cut diamond at 12 o’clock pays tribute to Mr. Winston’s favorite cut. To ensure that all of the different functions on board are shipshape, the Ocean Biretrograde Automatic 36mm is equipped with a high-end Swiss mechanical automatic movement. The latest technology, in the form of a flat silicon balance spring, will ensure years of impeccable service and helps optimize the overall isochronism of the movement.

The spectacle continues on the back of the case where a transparent sapphire crystal reveals the finely hand-finished movement and the 18-karat rose gold rotor. Water- resistant up to 100 meters and equipped with a generous 65-hour power reserve, this timepiece seamlessly combines practicality with beauty.

To match the intense colors of the dials, new straps have been developed for the timepieces. The rose gold model is presented on an electric-blue alligator strap, and the white gold model comes on a pearly burgundy alligator strap, both set with 42 diamonds in the buckle.
